choice beween osb and plywood roof sheathing?
hi,
Am planing to replace my old roof and i dont know what to choose between OSB and plywood sheathing?
What are the advantages of each?
Which one is better value?
I found plywood at 8USD/ panel (4*8') would you say its a good price? How much would be OSB?
thanks
david

-OSB has better nail pull strength then plywood.
-OSB is better for the enviroment.
No real advantage to using plywood. Either one doesn't react well to water but the idea on the new rood is to keep the water out so that shouldn't be an issue either way.

OSB has pretty much become the standard for roofing. The only important decision is, which one is allowed by code for your area?
OSB has a much higher resistence to water damage than the BCX plywood typically used on roofs, it's also lighter, less prone to warping, has no hidden voids, etc.
