Gutter hanging question

Hi guys. I'm putting new gutters across the front of the house. I've already installed some about a year ago, as a makeshift solution to divert some water getting into the carport. Now I'm ready to do it the right way. The problem is, my fascial board is only about 4" wide....the gutter is about 4" itself, filling the whole fascial. Of course, to properly slope the gutters, I'll end up having to drop below the bottom of the fascial at least an inch or so by the time I hit the downspout. Is this a big deal, or will it just look messed up? Have any of you ever had this problem? A quick note: I'm going to be putting in vinyl soffit this summer. Should I just go ahead and let the gutters hang down a little for now, and, after taking out the wood soffit, build the framing down to meet the lowest part of the gutter? That's what I'm leaning towards I guess, just wanted a little input on this.

Thanks alot.

Wink

If you are going to rework the over hang later Id put up a bigger fascia board now. If you want to stay with what you have now. I have had to trim the back of the gutter off some . So it can go higher on the high end. This way with the fall it can still stay on the fascia board.

Id put the new fascia board on first. ED

I wouldn't worry too much about sloping the gutter. As long as it doesn't have a back slope away from the drain opening you'll be OK.

Wayne is correct. Gutters to not need to have a lot of slope in order to drain. I wouldn't drop the gutters below the fascia unless you have to.
