Hammering roofing nails under overhang

I am roofing a roof that meets another wall about 8" under the over hang. Because of the tight quarters I cannot swing my hammer to nail the shingles in that area. Does anyone have a tricks to be able to nail in such a tight spot?

Thanks!

Turning your hammer on it's side gains you a couple inches. Usually you can smack the nail with the flat part that is directly inline with the handle- the part between the head and claw.

A pneumatic palm nailer is the other option for tight quarters. Sometimes a little tar under the shingles will hold that last row in place.
