Question How to reduce power vent noise?

After replacing the power vent a year ago, the 2nd floor is cooler in summer. Since the house is large (about 1800 sq ft. on the 2nd story) and the roof is steep, the fan is way up there (at least 15 ft. above the attic floor). However it is not far enough, the noise is still noticeable to ruin my nap.

One co-worker suggested to replace the standard on/off switch with a dimmer switch, so that I can limit the fan speed by limiting the current. My concern is the heat it generates for such a powerful fan (I don't really know the watt of the fan, but I assume it should be big). Any suggestions on the rating/maker of the dimmer switch?

Does anyone have other suggestions to reduce the noise?

Wink

For a attic vent fan you need the attic sq ft X 0.7 == the CFM of the fan. Might try and mount the fan mount on rubber washers.
