Soffit Vents

A few years ago we had an addition put on to our house. When they did the roof they installed a ridge vent across the entire house and addition and installed soffit vents on the addition only. My question is, "Should I install soffit vents on the rest of the house?" The house is about 30 years old, the addition has a cathediral ceilling and the house is a raised ranch with regular flat ceilings. There is no soffit vents in the original part of the house. Thanks.

What type of ventilation is in the original part of the home? If you have ridge vent, you will want soffit vents. You need so much intake and so much output for the attic ventilation.

Wink

Some books call for 1sq ft of vent for every 150sq ft of attic. 1/2 in at the overhang and 1/2 out near the ridge.
