Aluminum Roof
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on an aluminum roof? I guess you call that aluminum. The kind that some buildings have for the outside walls. Just the long strips that go on the roof. One small gable over the front porch. The rest is just straight, normal ^ reclined roof. The house is approximately 1100 sq ft. If possible, just cover over the shingles. Looking for a good job but economical as well. Retired. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!
I believe you are referring to the steel factory painted roof panels. Most are 3' wide and custom cut per length. It is more expensive than a shingle roof but should last longer.
It's always best to get 3 estimates and check their references

Just installed one last week, and in our area materials will run about $2 per linear foot. Don't forget ridge pieces, edge trim and screws placed every 2'. You won't install this directly on shingles. You will need to lay down 1x4's across the roof in 24" intervals to screw the steel to, and use the provided screws on the flat part of the steel, instead of the old ridge installation of tin roofs.

Thanks to all for the replies.
9K!? A lot more than I guessed.
Is "steel factory painted roof panels" the official name of the panels? I searched yesterday on the Internet and found nothing. Will give that a shot today.
$2 a linear foot? Will price in my area to see comparisons.
Thanks again.

I'm not sure of the exact name/wording of the painted metal
Searching 'metal roofing' should bring you to it.
Prices can vary greatly, even in the same area. While most of these panels come in 3' widths, I have seen them in 2' widths. Not all of them are made from the same gauge, IMO thicker is better
Warranties may also differ between brands.
