Question reside now, new roof in 5 years-OK?

I am going to have my house resided with Crane insulated siding (with the existing siding removed). My roof has 2 layers with the second about 20 years old. The roof shingles were top of the line with a projected 25 year life. The roof looks OK (except that I have a lot of moss which I need to do something about). Suppose I wait 5 years before I have the 2 roof layers ripped and a new roof installed. Is that OK, or should I be considering doing the roof and siding together. Thanks,
Owen

My siding got beat up in a few spots by shingles hitting it. Nothing severe, but I would have been disturbed to see it happen to 5 yr old siding.

I went thru "siding before roof". I also went thru "siding before roof before windows", which I felt kinda upset about.

The only issue we've had is a fairly annoying one......in one spot, over one of our new windows, water is getting behind the new siding and somehow getting behind our new window too, and coming into the house. I traced it down to the fact that there was no flashing between the roof shingles and old siding (and BEHIND the old siding, for that matter). The water works its way under there (mostly happens with wind-driven rain) rides down the siding and ends up *behind* my new window.

Moral of story? If you are having them do siding without doing roof, make sure they check things like this. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had the roof and siding replaced at the same time (and might have had windows done at the same time too).
