Rooled roofing extension?

My problem: My uncle built a playroom for my kids using an existing covered deck and kept the metal rolled roofing that was already in place. My situation is that the roofing was not long enough to extend beyond the wall more than a couple of inches which wasn't a problem when the area was a deck. Now the roof leaks. I'm wondering if my solution would be feasible. If I got some more rolled roofing and had it cut to 24" pieces. Then overlap these pieces on the existing roofing about 12" from the end of the roofing thus extending the metal out about 12". Then screw these pieces on and use polyurethane cement as a sealant. Would this work at all or does somebody have a great idea for a complete novice? Thanks for your help! Sherrie
