Hi, I'm building a garage adjacent to my house with connecting roof planes on 2 sections and i'm wondering if it's necessary to replace the shingles on the existing roof. These were replaced 8 years ago and are still in very good condition. Thx, Eric

Good day to you all. I have a little question. I am going to insulate and reroof my cottage. It is a cathedral type roof and I am going to lay down 2 x 8, insulate an sheat it. Then instal a steel roof. The question I have is: Do I have to take off the old asphalt shingles before installing the the new roof. The current roof consists of 1 x 6 with shingles over them, no vapour barrier and no insulation. I am just trying to save a little time and of course I am well into the bush so the transport to the landfill or wherever they old shingles go may be a problem. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
