Installing Gutter Covers under sealed shingles...GRRRR!!!
I bought Crane Plastic "Waterfall" gutter covers for some gutters on my house. They are on some other sections that the PO installed and seem to work great.
I went to slip them up under the new gutters and found that the shingles are self sealing and glued down to the drip edge on the bottom row. I can wiggle a putty knife up in there to separate them, but it is REAL hard to do. I would never be able to do that for 100-200 lf of gutter!
I even tried making a tool with a piece of spring steel that I could slip under the lower row after some putty knife work and pull it along the drip edge, but no way. I tried also when the roof was in full summer sun and very warm. That adhesive won't give up.
Ideas? I'm really bummed... thought I was DONE cleaning gutters...
All I can think of is to trim some of the cover off so it goes under the shingle just to where the adhesive starts. I can't think of any ill effects from that?

Thats probably a better idea than trying to break loose the shingle. As long as the back edge is supported, should be just fine.
I had to do the same thing back at the old place.
Carry on, McDuff!
