Best roof cleaner for removing moss
Hello,
Have moss growing on my nice five year old roof and plan on installing zinc or copper strips to prevent it, but first want to remove the moss that is there. If I find an easy to use cleaner, maybe the metal strips are not needed.
There are 100 recommendations of products on the web from oxygenated bleach to special products designed just for this. Power washing is out - too much risk of damaging the roof. Some products say you need to apply then gently scrub off the moss, others are "spray and forget" which leaves me a little skeptical, but who knows, Plant life below is a serious consideration - my wife has really worked hard with gardening and I would be in the dog house if I ended up killing her plants!
So, can someone with experience using something effective please let me know what you used?
Thanks in advance

The cleaners are a crap shoot. One thing I do know is that you will positively have to scrub the shingles to remove it completely. Don't fall for the "spray and wash" types. It grows in the granules of the shingles and is a hard thing to get rid of. The only way to stop it from coming back is to get rid of the trees or whatever else may be causing it.
