Post Not Covered

Last year, I hired a contractor to replace the shingles on my roof. He did very poor work and over the winter leaks occurred that damaged the plywood, roof trusses, roof insulation, indoor ceilings and walls and even window/door frames.

Could someone explain to me why my contractor's insurance does not want to cover the damages to my roof (ie: plywood, trusses, insulation) but they are covering the damages inside the house?

I would say that's all his premium covers although I don't know why he would buy that type of policy.

However, you can sue the contractor for what's called a "deficiency judgement". Just make sure that you don't sign anything that says the check from the insurance company waives all other claims.
