Roof Shingles

Bad leak over the winter (with heavy snowfall) after I changed the shingles to new shingles.
What could have gone wrong?

-Engineer's inspection- not high enough ice shield
-Shingle manufacturer's report- contractor did not follow the manufacturer's instructions.
-Other roofers' inspections- work not completed, poorly done.

The contractor's insurance company does not want to acknowledge that there could be damages to the plywood, trusses, and insulation caused by the leak over 8 months of leaking. Should I be concerned of the coming winter for the roof to collapse (40 year old house)?

How many of the three inspectors actually went on the roof? Even though report #2 covers reports 1 # 3, did it list all the mistakes?

Is the contractor's insurance company willing to pay at all? If the answer is no, and you want them to pay all or part of the damages, you have to sue the contractor himself. That will force him to file a claim with the insurance company.

If they are willing to pay something, are you happy with the amount?

Please keep your posts in one thread. Asking questions in different ways will not get you better answers.

Maybe a Mod will combine them, but that could make things even more confusing.
