run off drainage solution needed

An alley runs behind my garage and it is graded higher than my and everyone else's property--no chance getting the city to do anything unless everyone agrees to pay half for getting it paved. When it rains I get tons of water run off spilling in to my garage and yard. Literally six inches of water in my garage at times. I want to try and install a drainage system that would run from the alley to the front yard and dump the water in the street. Easy enough to dig a trench and run green pvc to the front. My question is, what do i do to get the most water in the pvc--multiple grates along the parameter of the garage that the pvc connects to? seems like if i don't have continuous grates for water to flow in to it would defeat the purpose. ANy ideas or products that people are aware of would be terrific--or other ideas.

Is a different forum better for this question?

thanks,

Debbie

either continous grates with a good sized drain pipe or maybe a concrete curb along side your garage to force the water around. but i think you are on the right track.

if we're not supposed to eat animals why are they made out of meat?
