Rippled roof repair

My roof has developed ripples or perhaps a better description would be a wavy appearence. I have been told it was from my attic getting too hot causing the rafters to warp. I would like to consider a metal steel roof , if that would solve my warp problem. If I have to replace the decking, can I use shims or something along that line to level the roof or must I totally replace the rafters , or is that someething that can even be done on an existing structure. I know I will have to spend some money, but what can be done to limit the cost and still
have a decent looking roof? I will most likely have to pay for this work to be done as my health prevents me from climbing around on a ladder or roof , I don't want to be taken to the cleaners because of my lack of knowledge. Any suggestions will
be gladly received.
THANKS

Roof rafters might not be warped at all ! you might have two or more layers of aspalt shingles on your roof. and what happens is the stones that are on the bottom shingle are heating up burning out and warping the top shingle.

Another possibility would be the sheating used on the roof was to thin, Not supporting the weight of the shingles!

GOOD LUCK !!!

Roof ripple

Thanks Shel,
I'll certainly consider your input, especially the thin sheathing. I think they used 1/2 inch OSB about 18 years ago. Maybe I could replace it with a 5/8 plywood and cover that with a heavy 30 lb paper and correct it. Thanks
Andy
