Tar Paper of Drip Edge: Which one first?
I'm in the midst of building a new 10'x14' shed from the ground up. Framing is done and I'm sheathing the roof today. The guys at the local roofing supply were very helpful in making sure I bought everything I need, including a big roll of tar paper and a bunch of drip edge. Question is, which gets installed first? I'm guessing the drip edge goes up first then the tar paper overlaps onto the drip edge slightly. Is that right or am I way off here?

Put the tar paper first, that way you have a positive seal and no way for water to get to the sheathing. With your starter row and finish row over them you've got no way for water/ice to get there

I agree w/ the felt paper first- leaving it long enough that it folds over the fascia a bit, then the drip edge (I prefer gutter apron). If ice/water dam at the gutter, water would back up over the drip edge... and if you have felt paper under the drip edge, it should help protect the sheathing.
If you are really worried about ice and water, you should be using a row of ice and water shield that sticks directly to the sheathing rather than using felt paper in the first place.

Thanks for the quick responses! I finished sheathing today and then had to tarp it off as the rain was moving in. I like the row of ice shield suggestion. I'll probably use that when I do the house, but the shed isn't likely to get gutters...or ice shield.
