Adding drip edge. How to lift and nail under shingles?
Have 15 year townhouse in MD with original roof and builder never installed drip edge/gutter apron. Shingles don't extend far enough and water is leaking between gutter and fascia board.
Couple of questions:
1.) How do I slide new drip edge/gutter apron under starter shingle row and nail it down without breaking shingles?
2.) Can I use roofing adhesive instead of nails as I slide it under the starter row.
3.) In either case what do I do if I run into roofing nails as I try to slide the drip edge/gutter apron underneath? Is ther a better way?
4.)I read about notching drip edge/gutter apron where gutter hangers would normally interfere but this would seem to ruin the unbroken integrity of the drip edge/gutter apron.
Do I need to add some kind of sealant?
Thanks!
Mike

Hello, On a 15 year old roof i wouldnt lift any shingles to install drip edge. I would just get some 50 year clear sealant and run it on the back edge of gutter to stop the water from running behind the gutter.
