Attaching Downspout To Vinyl Siding

Attaching Downspout To Vinyl Siding

I had my house resided last year with insulated vinyl siding. The installer overall did a good job, but they didn't reattach the aluminum downspouts.

To stabilize it, I've added sheet metal screws connecting the gutter to the elbows and the elbows to the downspout. But it can shift around a bit.

Is it standard installation to just drill connectors into the vinyl siding?

Is there a clip available to connect the downspouts to the house without having to drill into the vinyl siding?

Other options I've not mentioned?

there is a u-shaped clip,that goes behind the leader,you attach it thru the center of the clip with 1 5/8" galvanized gutter screws-1 into center of clip thru wall,then you use 1/2" self tapping sheet metal screws to attach the sides of the clip to the leader-the screws come color coordinated-Don`t worry about going thru the siding,it`s not a problem

Roof Leaking need advise

Hello, I purchased a townhouse this past may. it was built new June '07. (so warranty is expired). We have had several roof leaks over this past summer. The developer has attempted to patch the area around the chimney with new shingles, sealant and flashing several times. We still have leaks. The Developer and the roofer they hired to build it originally are coming tomorrow to take another look. I'm worried that they will just put a bandaid on it rather than fix it properly. we think the water is coming in around the flashing on the chimney, but it could also be coming in at another transition on the roof. Can anyone offer some advice for what questions I should be asking? I'm not a DIY'er, but thought you guys might be able to help? Thanks.

Gutters falling off house

Anyway, I am buying my first house(foreclosure, so I'll be here a lot) and in one spot the gutters have been falling off the house. I close in a few weeks. I went over today and hammered them back in thier original holes, obviously I was guessing they would just slide right out. They were over loaded with snow (iowa winter). Well I hammered them back in their original holes (since I dont own the property yet thats about all i can do, I just didnt want them falling off the house completely) I did notice one nail(spike?) was completely missing, so I plan to go buy some more tomorrow and hammer them in. I expect them to fall out because hammering them back in will only make the hole bigger and the nails looser (right?) What can I do to keep them in there, I had considered filling the holes with wood glue and then hammering them back in (whenever they start coming out of the wood again). What do I need to know and make sure I do next time they start coming off the house? What would be a better more permanent fix? Ive never messed with gutters but it seems easy enough. Anyway. Thanks for your feedback/help oh and there are a bunch of trees in the back yard that im gonna be removing (at least branches that point towards the house.) and that might be part of the cause (cloggin the gutters)
