Roofing tear off
I am planning to tear the roof off of my home and install a new one. The current problem is the waste container hauling wants to know what type of shingles I have. Ashalt or composition. I do not know the difference. How can I tell. Thanks for the help.

The two are typically the same. The dumpster companies ask me what kind of roof, asphalt or cedar. Cedar weighs much much much less than asphalt. If I am tearing off asphalt they won't send out larger than a 20 yard dumpster, the weight will be too much for the truck lifting the full box.
Figure you'll need 1/2 yard per roofing square per layer. Also figure each square will weigh about 250 lbs per square per layer more or less. A ton is 2000 lbs so ask how many tons you are allowed in your dumpster box and what the overages may be for the over tons.
