Lightning Rods on Metal Roof

I am having a metal roof installed on a large barn. I asked the contractor to install the lightning rods back on it and he said they will change the color of the metal roof. Is this true? Do most people install lightning rods on steel roof or not???

Thanks,

Joe

Build A Roof | Find Roofing Contractor | Roofing Quotes

According to that site ^^, a metal roof is no different than any other roof when it comes to lightning. It doesn't attract it & it's not a substitute for a rod. Based on that alone, I would reinstall them. Other information is below. I still don't know about the color change but I wouldn't worry about it.

Not a good idea

The materials the lightning rods and cables are made out of will void the roof warranty and change the color.
