drawing plans for new roof dormer

where can I locate generic drawing plans to add a roof dormer? We already have a balcony, but need to open up the roof and build a dormer to permit us to gain access.

Urgent help needed: water leak in attic

I hired a contractor to do the roof replacement, the old roof was teared off, but the new roof hasn't been installed. There were some rain last night and unfortunately the contractor didn't cover well and there are some water leaked into the attic. Some beans were wet, water dropped down several places. The contractor is coming soon. How should this be fixed? what steps need to do? Thanks!!Read More

2 foot wide soffit freezes up in winter.

Summer's almost over. Last winter I had a huge ice build up on my roof. I have (unfortunately) about a 2 foot wide soffit that is boxed in with screened vinyl siding on the bottom. I also have gutters attached. Is there any other product on the market besides heat tape to apply to the roof over the 2 foot section of the soffit so I don't have this problem again, or should I just install heat tape in the gutters, which is obviously much easier than installing it on the roof? Any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks.Read More
