my roof is blowing away!

Hi, i have an older maybe 60 yr. old custom cape cod with big dormer. Above the dormer the roofing material started to blow away last night after heavy winds. My father in law called the material cold roll or something like that. It looks like wide, maybe 2 ft.. heavy roofing rolls layed down. Anyway, the roof is in bad shape and needs replaced. Also, the pitch isn't steep at all, and it is easy access to this roof, i just climb out my window and small ladder up. Probably measures about 20ft.x 15 ft. somewhere around 300 sq. ft..
Is this hard to replace? How hard to tackle this job, what needs to be done? I need professional suggestions please!

without a picture(s) it would be hard to identify the type of material. is the top of the material granulated? or smooth? could you possibly post pics?

It has granular like asphalt shingles. Also, the rolls look to be smaller than 3 ft. wide. I was told this is called cold roll. I am thinking about getting laid a rubber roof. What do you think?

looks like rolled roofing to me.this material has many different "nicknames" such as cold roll. there are many different systems you could go with. epdm( rubber) is one of the many. it is a good system if installed correctly. but if you have no roofing exprience especially with epdm it would be quite a task.
