HELP! Roof Leak

We just moved into a brand new home in December and at our first rain noticed that the guest room had water spots on the ceiling. We have had the builders come and "fix" the roof/chimney three different times. The first- who knows what they did. The second time they put a new cap on the chimney and the third time they have installed a cricket. We haven't had any rain yet to see if the cricket works. The guest room now smells to high heaven and is showing signs of mildew and mold. They builder will not fix the interior until we know the roof is fixed. However, where we live it could rain tomorrow or it could literally be three more months before it rains again. What can I do to see if the roof is fixed? We are worried about our health living where there is a horrific smell and mold growing. Any tips and suggestions on how we should handle this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Spray the roof with a hose.

Your neighbors may think you are crazy, but put a sprinkler in the roof and let it go for an hour or two. This way it gets everything wet. The roof ,the valley ,the chimney. If no leak then you might be good. Although it could still leak with rain and wind. If the repair inside is finished, then stained again, before the repair guy thinks it's ok, that will be on you.
