Patio covering: rolled vs 3-tab

I just built an unattached patio cover that drops 9 inches from front to back over 20'. I was going with a rolled roof, would this be the best for my situation. If this the best solution, do I need to put roofing cement over the nail head that are exposed. I've put down the felt paper already so I want to hear from you guys on the rolled roof or 3-tab shingles. By the way the guy at Lowes suggested the rolled roofing as a best option. Thanks

If you cant see it from anywhere then go to a local roofing supply and ask for Modbit rolls. They will last ten times as long as typical roll roofing.
If you are going to nail it down do it in the laps and then seal the laps with mastic you get from the same place meant for that material. That way there is no exposed nails.
If you can see it then remove the felt paper and install ice and water shield over the entire roof and shingle it.
