roofing beam rot

I have at least one roofing beam 2x8 that has its overhand rotted. Do I need to replace the entire beam or is there a means of "splicing" a 6" section from the inside of the garage to where it overhangs the bearing wall outside? The rot does not extend very far inside the house

Beams really don't get spliced. If you want an easy way out, sister the beams on either side of the rotted beam & remove it.
