interior sealant support to supplement drain install?

We have a sunken living room that suffers water intrusion during heavy rain. We are installing a french drain w/ sump pump to draw water away from the foundation, but we're about to install new carpet and don't want to risk another water remediation project. Is there a seal we can use on the interior wall to prevent water getting into the home or is it unnecessary?

Waterproofing is done from the outside. There is nothing you can use on the interior wall to stop water. Wait for a heavy rain before you install the carpet.

Unnecessary - Pulpo's right, this is done from the outside and you should wait for a heavy rain to prove your solution worked before installing the carpet
