How to insert replacement T & G 2 X 6's
It seems to me that the only way to replace bad tongue and groove 2 X 6's is to cut off part of the tongue of the new piece until it will squeeze in there. Right? (This assumes that you cannot slide the new piece in from the side)

And you would only need to do this on the last board, if you are replacing more than one. Cutting the bottom part of the groove piece and possibly camfering the edge will allow you to engage the tongue, then drop the board in where you can face nail it for security.

Is this for roof sheathing? If so, you could do the reverse of what Mark suggested; before installing the last board, cut away the top of the groove on the adjacent board which is still in place. This will allow the tongue of the last new board to fall into place with no noticeable difference from below.

The more information we get, it seems to get more complicated. I'll bet it is like my former log home. The second floor was 2x8 t&g, exposed top for the floor, and exposed bottom for the ceiling. We'll wait.
