Ventilating fans are not really for coooling but to prevent moisture accumulation.
For venting/cooling the attic electric. But may suck out the A/C from the home and cost you more$$$$
Turbines are good, no electric. Had one in a house yrs ago but did not notice any difference in temp.
I have installed solar power fans also but the CFM is a joke.
Ridge vents with soffit vents is the way to go I would think. Its how most new construction is.

Absolutely agree with Mike. Ridge vents are at the highest point in the roof, so they will completely evacuate the hot air without leaving pockets. Compatible soffit vents are necessary, also.
