Diverting roof water options.
I need to divert water around the little porch overhang and into the gutters on either side. Can I just slap some flashing under the edge of the shingle without water backing up underneath? It stinks having water splash off the cement and back onto the door...

Welcome to the forums.
You need to install a small length of gutter on the overhang and a downspout returning to the wall.
The only place a diverting length of flashing will work is if ti's several feet up the roof and diverts water to the sides, toards the existing rain gutters. That would take care of all of the water above the diverter, but the water on the few feet below it would continue to run off just as it presently does, which won't cure your problem.
