What type of sealant

What type of sealant
Need to caulk exposed nailheads and a couple of areas on the neighbors carport (remember my other thread?) and don't think roofing cement stuff would be appropriate since it will be exposed and eventually dry and crack. I know many people use 100% silicone but is polyurethane better or easier to use?
Brand and type recommendations please? I'm more used to interior and door and window stuff.
Thx

Some of the roofers I know use Geocel clear sealant. Forget the exact name. Theres one by NPC too... Solar Seal 900.

Well...crud...not available here. Doing a test with GE II 100% silicone for gutters and flashing. Saw some OSI poly..but it was black. Not urgent really....we prob won't have rain for 2 months..lol
Checked the Henry stuff...but just felt a little uneasy since it seemed to be for underneath shingles and flashing.

The problem with silicon is that nothing sticks to silicon but silicon. If you ever want to apply more sealant int he future it'll have to be silicon.
Better to use a neoprene based sealant that'll stick to darned near anythign, even wet surfaces if you tool it enough. I personally use mostly polyurethane based sealants such as Vulkem, NP1, & Solar Seal.
I am really not a fan of geocel but many roofers I know use it. Everyone has their personal prefrences.

Yeah Vulkem would work too and Lowes surely carries that in a variety of colors. It's nice to use one that matches the roof or flashing color somewhat. Around here NP1 only comes in Grey or Limestone. I don't recall seeing other colors in stock. But I love using that for sealing windows to cement or as expansion joint sealant. It tools nice with paint thinner, and then I like to sprinkle sand on it.
Speaking of sprinkling sand, one old roofer I knew used to sprinkle shingle grit over his caulking- exposed nail heads and such- to make them disappear.

Lexel. Lexel will stick to water
Don't get any on you or your clothing, or any surface not intended to be sealed. Then do the sand or shingle sprinkle thingy.

Well, I appreciate the responses....but not sure if I've seen any of those products here. We only have a HD, True Value, and ACE. Haven't checked the last 2 yet. There may be an ABC...but I seem to remember it closing down.
I wasn't real pleased with the test I did using the GE After 2 days outside in the sun, I could (with a little effort) peel it off of the roof material. Didn't seem to adhere well, even though I forced it down onto it pretty hard. It did say it was gutters though...not roofing.
Looks aren't vital really...you have to climb on the roof to see it since its such a low slope. And no shingle grit to sprinkle anyway.
Thanks for the replies...at least I have some options.

LOL...I should have said ABC Supply, I guess. We don't have state ABC here...it's in every grocery/drug (appropriate huh?)/WalMart store.

Ain't it weird? Go to Pittsburgh and you have to buy beer by the 6 pack or larger at a retailer like Pizza Hut. Absolutely can't buy it at a liquor store. Liquor and wine at a grocery store.
