Question Leaky Porch Roof

I have a shingled porch roof that is leaking in several places up to about the middle of the roof. The roof has very little pitch to it. We want to reroof the porch, but can't increase the pitch without making the ceiling too low. (We want to close the porch in for a sunroom.) What type of roof should we use?

If the roof is 2:12 to 3:12, I'd recommend you tear off down to the deck, then install a self-sealing ice and water shield (like Grace Ice and Water Shield) over the ENTIRE deck, following the mfg's instructions, assuming the deck isn't rotten. Then install your shingles, preferably laminated architectural which don't have individual tabs.

If it's lower than 2:12, you probably shouldn't be using shingles.
