runoff pipes

My underground runoff pipe is full of roots and I am in process of replacing piping. The current pipe appears to be a standard non-corrugated. As I finished digging trench to remove old pipe, roots had obviously cracked the pipe and I could see roots growing into the pipe. Question: what kind of pipe should I use as a replacement? I do want to minimize the chances of clogging again with roots. Your help please. Respectfully, Jim Jefferson
