Flat stoned roof leak

Working on a flat tar and chip roof that has a few small leaks at the outer edge near the stone curb. The home owner would like a quick fix. Has any one had any luck with paint on products for leak stopping. The stones are white and she would like to keep it that way. Thanks for the info.

I'm not a roofer but she wants a quick (meaning cheap) fix and she doesn't want the roof to look any different when you're done - I think I'd pass on this job.

Should the contractor have used drops on the gutter install?

I discovered the contractor who installed my seamless gutter did not use drops to attach the downspouts to - they just cut an "X" in the floor of the gutter, bent the flaps down and screwed the gutter onto the flaps. My main concern is the area of the opening in the floor of the gutter is 50% of the area of the profile of the downspout. In other words, there is only 50% of the capacity that the downspout could have if drops had been used. Plus, the contractor even said (before he started the job) that my installation should have 4 downspouts and suggested that a fourth one be added. I told him that while I understood his reasoning, I wanted to stay with 3 because due to the way the house is situated, a fourth would be difficult to do and in the 50 years I've lived here, overflow during a heavy downpour has rarely occurred. I am having a 25' x 12' addition put onto my house and because of the low pitch of the roof I decided to use ridged tin. I know I will have to prime and paint the tin when finished so I am asking for suggestions as to what material I should use to do the job. Thank you.Read More
