Cool

I have recently added 8' to my existing 12'x 16' building. I had to build my own trusses on the existing building(with the help of a good friend that i can no longer contact). I remember everything about building the trusses except how to layout my rafter length. The roof is 3/12 pitch with 7" overhang. The trusses run the 12' length. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an easy way to do it. Get yourself 2 12 ft. 2x4's.
Secure them someplace flat. Now go to the center, and measure up 3 feet exactly and make a mark, or pound in a nail or somehow secure that point. Now take a string line and hook to your 3' point and the other end to your 2x4. Do the same at the other side. Now take another 12' 2x4 and slide it up parallel with the other 2 2x4's and where the ends touch the string this is your layout. Just add 7" for your tail on each end. I would probably leave 12" on each end, then cut the tails off after they are up.
