Roofing question
A friend is trying to sell a house and a potential buyer came and looked at the house and liked it so hired a house inspector. The inspector said the roof needs repair because there are a lot of cracks on the roof and it could cause leaking at any moment. My friend just got had two guys put this gray masking thing to cover the entire roof which covers the cracks. You can still see where the cracks are but there just covered up with the gray stuff. Is the gray masking just a temp fix that can pass inspection? The roof is a flat surface by the way.
Thanks.
Thanks.

What kind of snake oil did they put on the roof? Not a good idea. If the shingles are cracked, they will recrack when this stuff shrinks. It probably looks like crap, too. Can you post a couple of pictures of this so we can see what you see??

If I were a potential buyer, the roof with the goop on it would be worse than the roof in its original state. At least in its original state it's not concealing problems. In this state the whole situation just looks dishonest and the buyer must assume that the entire roof needs replacement now and will factor that into the bid.
