Post Roofing

I have a few pieces of rotten fascia boards that I want to replace. I have gutters around my house on the first and second floor. There are a 1x2's behind the gutters that I need to replace in some places also. My problem is that there is drip edge nailed under the shingles and drapes over into my gutters. How do you remove the drip edge strip so I can replace the 1x2's and the fascia board?

I'm not a roofer, but I just removed mine for other reasons and was able to lift the drip edge enough to remove that 1x2. My 6" drip edge was nailed up away from the edge enough to allow the lift. If you have a smaller drip edge this may not work.

You might consider replacing the 1x2 with some of the synthetic trim. If white is your color, you're done. I don't have gutters up here in cold country, but I would consider something wider than 2" to support the bottom of the gutter. One of the roof pros will tell us if that is necessary or not.
