Gutter guards , Do they work ?

I want to install gutter guards on my gutters but I've read some mixed reviews on them ( They work & They don't work ) what are your thoughts ? Could you recommend a brand or style if they worked for you .

My parents installed Gutter Helmet about ten years ago after the old man fell off while cleaning the old ones....

They've been good, the only issue is a spot where someone stepped on one and crushed it a bit, it doesn't carry the water into the gutter in that spot as well any longer.

They work better for leaves than they do for pine needles but overall they do a good job.

They look like they'll do the job,I wonder how well they do in a heavy rain, what I mean by that will the rain roll past the opening ? Thank you for your replies.

The only problem with Gutter Helmet I've seen in any rain is the spot I mentioned where one of them is damaged.

GutterBrush Gutter Guards work well

We have had a good experience with a simple do it yourself product called GutterBrush. Basically a big bottle brush that fills the space inside your gutters and lets water flow through while blocking most leaves, etc... Heavy loads of Pine needles and small debris may require some limited cleaning or maintenance, but worth your consideration.
