water leak from either wall or roof into my bedroom

noticed the water leak in my room. do I have to remove the dry wall? thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

You have to find out where the water is coming in and that often involves removal of at least some of the drywall.

You could also try to identify the source of the leak from outside. It's most likely a problem on the roof though the wall is a possibility. It also could be anything above containing water like a HVAC unit with a leaking catch pan or a leaking plumbing line.

Is the stain on the ceiling? If so, can you access the attic to investigate further? If an exterior wall - check around windows and/or anything else that goes thru the wall. It isn't a big deal to patch drywall but I wouldn't start by cutting a hole .... save that for last. Pics might be helpful - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html
