Fascia cover installation.

Hi guys I have a quick question about covering my wooden fascia. I decided against replacing the wodden soffit and fascia and covering it with an aluminum one.

I only wanted to cover the fascia, as the soffit is in a good enough shape. However, the fascia cover is 6in while the wooden board is only 5.5in. I know the extra is for the soffit channel but as I'm not replacing the soffit, the extra half inch isn't required.

What should I do at this point? I'll be using white tipped screws at the bottom of the fascia cover but since there's an extra half inch space there it wouldn't work. Should I just cut extra half inch at the top of aluminum fascia so that it fits the wooden one completely?

Welcome to the forums Stevan!

Is the fascia cover prebent at the bottom? If it is, trim the top so it fits.

And coil stock is not screwed, you use color matched trim nails.
If you have drip edging on the roof you just slide the trim up under it. The only nails you should need are nailed into the hem at the bottom, not allover the face of it. May need just one where they over lap.
