Where to get a SMALL piece of roofing felt

I was wondering where to buy a SMALL piece of roofing felt (black paper) to put under the shingles.

Unfortunately Home Depot sells them just as a whole roll that is definitely to much.

We just need a small piece to cover approx 10 pieces of 3-tab shingles.

Thank for any advice.

You might check a house under construction or one getting a new roof. I'm sure they'd be willing to give you what you need especially if you bring along something cold to drink.

Unfortunately there is no construction near our place.

Is there any other material that can be used?

Well a whole role doesn't cost that much. You could try a lumber yard and see if they have a damaged roll they'd give you a discount on.

Actually "if $20 is too much" based on a check at Home Depot.
