Ridge Vent Damaged

I recently had a pest removal company perform work at my home. The tech needed to use a ladder on my roof to gain access to replace venting caps on the second floor exterior wall. In the process he stepped on and crushed the metal ridge vent. I asked him if this would cause a problem. He replied " No it's just a cap". I have doubts about his answer and worry about leaks. I've attached a couple of images and would like any opinions. The vent is about 6 ft long. Thanks in advance.

Nothing at all against pest removal professionals, but assuming that he's good at it, and can avoid going onto peoples roofs, your guy should definitely stick with that, and not go into roofing. Even if it doesn't leak now, it will, because it's a good candidate to be damaged by the wind. Fortunately, roofs are laid from bottom to top, and that's at the top, so a matter of taking it off and replacing it, presumably at the expense of the offending pest company.

Thanks pedro

I contacted the company and they are willing to replace the vent. They stated that they are familiar with replacement of these ridge vents due to the nature of their business and that they have several techs that can perform the repair, one of which is the tech that did the damage. Needless to say I requested that they not send him due to my lack of confidence in his judgement at this point.

It might not leak but I'd have it replaced anyway. It's not a difficult job. Will you be able to get on the roof and inspect the job when he's done?

Yes, I plan on it. They said they will remove the damaged vent, seal the old nail holes and run sealer below the perimeter of the new vent. Will I be able to see if sealer was used or not after the repair is complete?

I think it depends on how neat they are but some of the sealant will probably ooze out around the bottom, you'll definitely see it over the new nail heads.

Thanks for the info! Rain is called for the next several days but I'm hoping it will be fixed sometime later this week.
