Metal Roofing Installation Question
So I just bought a house and the inspector states the roof will need replacing in a few years. I do have a small repair( I hope its small) of rotted wood due to no drip edge. My intentions are to use that decent quality shingles and install a metal roof over them. Kind of giving me a 2nd sense of security. My question is, I cannot afford the material all at once, and I do not have a place to store it. So, can I buy a few pieces at a time and install it? Pretty much accomplish the job over several months?

No need for shingles covered by metal, either use one or the other.
The only issue with buying shingles a bundle or two at a time is there might be slight color variances between the different lots. The same might be true with painted metal.

either way I cannot afford to do the entire job at once. That is why I was going to do either metal, or large asphalt corrugated roofing. So that I can apply it as money allows.

What information do you need? Buying piece meal like that will give color variations in both metal and asphalt, as Marksr stated. Make your repairs to the decking as needed, removing the shingles affected, and replace them with as close a color match as you can.

I could care less about the color matching. I want to know if I can install the pieces as I buy them? I have talked to one guy who said that is how he did it, over about a 3/4 month time frame.
