understanding cost difference between concrete tiles and steel colourbond roofin

I cannot for the life of me understand why it costs more to roof in colourbond than it does to roof in concrete tiles.

less weight and lighter trusses, lower freight/ weight costs. less time to install is how I see it.
Are we being ripped off by roofers or by their suppliers?

Welcome to the forums! I am assuming you are from down under, but your profile isn't complete. It seems to be an indigenous product for your location so it would be difficult to explain except for supply and demand. Why does diesel cost more than gasoline? Less refining takes place. Transportation costs are the same. Labor is the same.

Now that we have the "new and improved" diesel, it is being exported to Europe, so we always have a tight market. Go figure.

Ken, not improved if you drive a 2001 Cummins. I have to add one ounce of two cycle oil for each gallon of fuel to keep the injector pump from failing. The new and improved is for 2007 and later machines.
