Leaking roof
#1

I have a flat roof which has paper and tar as its cover. It is now leaking in various places and I need to do something quick. I will have to have the whole roof repaired eventually but, right now I need a solution until the major work can be done.
Any suggestions? I will be doing this myself and am very good at following instructions that are clear and concise.

My daughter has trouble with a flat roof leaking where it meets the pitched roof. A roofer did a "quick fix" in poor weather by pouring black roofing tar right out of its 5-gallon bucket. A little ran through to the floor below! But if it had been thicker that prob would have been OK. In her case the problem is at the joining of the pitched roof and the roofer said he will have to remove a course or more of shingles, then lay down some of this new heavy rubber roll and seal it down with a torch.
Flat roofs can be trouble but there are some right ways to cover it. White "snowroof" or even aluminum color for the topcoat helps keep it cooler. Inspect it every year or so and touch up as needed. Best is to build a pitched roof if you can. Good luck.
