tired EPDM seam tape

Hi. I have a flat EPDM roof where a few taped seams are not in the best shape. Essentially, one side of the tape (four or five inches) is firmly affixed to the roof while the other side (one to two inches) has begun to peel back a bit.

I can't figure out the absolute best way to fix them. I can either:
1. Try to pull up the tape over the length of the seam and replace it, or
2. Fill the bad edges with lap sealant, or
3. Place the new tape over the old tape with a three-inch offset.

It seems like option one could go really wrong if I can't pull it all off, option two seems not very permanent, and option three seems like it would cause ponding at about 2x the depth of the tape.

What's the best way to go?

Your best bet would probably be to carefully cut off the loose portion and reapply new EPDM and sealant over the seam.
