Standard distance between roof and dormer corners?

Our roofers just finished up the roof yesterday, but they got a little overzealous trimming the corners of the dormers and now need to replace one piece. The corner pieces of the dormers had been practically sitting on top of the old shingles and needed to be trimmed. We knew they'd be trimmed a bit, but we weren't expecting them to be trimmed back as far as they were.

Is there a "code" that says how far the corners of a dormer should be above the shingles? Did they cut back all of these corners too much? It should be obvious from the pics which one is being replaced:

Is this not at least the third post you made on this one question on different sites?
There is no "code" on this.
It's not going to be an issue.
It needs that clearance for water to drain.
It never should have been tight to the shingles before.
Yes it's a sloppy cut and should have been done straighter.

No code issue, but an ugly issue. I am not familiar with that style of corner, but it should have been cut at a lower angle and allowed to fall even with the flashing or at least the bottom j channel.

Joe, I've posted before, but with a different aspect concerning the dormers. I should have pointed out that the roofer's project manager said that code was 1" above the shingles, which seemed like a big gap to me. They did get that one really ugly piece done today and that looks better now. I guess we're so used to seeing these corners practically resting on the roof that it looks a little odd now.

Thanks for the feed back.
