Need ideas to secure the fiberglass panel to Window Well Cover Grates

Hello all,

I need to fasten the fiberglass panel to Window Well Cover Grates.
My plan is to use self-drill screw. But I need to get some ideas how to secure the screw on the grate.

Is there a product that I can use to put against the grate so that the screw can penetrate both the fiberglass panel and grate and thread into the product.

Thank youName: grates-img.jpg

I need something clarified first. What is the purpose of the two items in the first & third pics? Why would they be together? What else am I missing? Is there a 3rd piece that connects to the two that I see? The screws are self explanatory.

Window Well

I think the OP wants to fasten a fiberglass panel on top of the grate and is looking for a material to place on the bottom of the grate to receive the screws going down through the panel and the grate.

I typed this up last night and never posted it.

You want to attach that translucent plastic to the top of that grate. Those screws you are showing would not be helpful here.

I would use either stainless steel nuts and bolts or nylon cable ties.

With the nuts and bolts you would drill a hole thru the plastic. Drop in the screw and put a nut under the grille. No need to make them water tight. Five would be a good number of fasteners to use.

With the cable ties you could drill holes thru the plastic close to the edge. Run a cable tie thru the plastic and grate and tighten. Inexpensive and nothing to rust. Not too close to the edge or the plastic will crack.

I still don't understand what purpose those two things serve when one is on top of the other.
