gutters creaking in the rain

Hi,

I have a house about 17 years old with metal gutters. One of them creaks when it rains. But only when it rains. It can be windy/hot/cold, but just makes a noise when it gets wet. About every 30-90 seconds we'll hear one fairly loud creak. Kinda like a clunk, but just a single creak noise. Then nothing....wait....creak again.

Any ideas why or better yet, what can be done? It's just one with a downspout.

Thanks!

I personally have never heard of or have had that problem but I would try resetting the nails that attach the gutter to the eave.

It's not usually the rain that causes the problem.... it's the sudden change in temperature causing the gutter to contract.

Or if possible replace the gutter nails with gutter screws. (Yes, might be tricky pulling the gutter nails. Make a wood block to fit inside the gutter so the hammer claw doesn't bend it.)
