Shiny/Sparkles on Roofing Shingles
I was out mowing the grass today and noticed a lot of shingle granules at each of my downspout kickouts. I then looked at the roof and the sun was shining on it. The entire roof had really bright sparkle areas on it (looked like diamonds sparkling). The roof is about 12 years old. I was thinking maybe the shingles had hail damage? Can anyone tell me what I am seeing? Thanks in advance!

Sparkles are normal and good. They do wear away with time and abuse like hail and once they're gone (or significantly gone), you need a new roof.
Not that this is the only time you might need a new roof....

Sorry, I cannot furnish a picture like you want as I am too old to get up on the roof to take a picture. I wish I could, but two hip replacements and a rebuilt knee keep me off of roofs.
