Shingled over 1 layer and covered all pipe flashing

I noticed on the house I just moved into, they shingled over one layer of shingles which is fine but they also shingled over the old vent pipe flashing. Guess my question is, is that okay or no?

No, that's just an ignorant roofer that did that.

Need a picture so we can see what your seeing.
Would have cost them about $15.00 to do this right.

You will need to remove a few shingles above above and around the vent pipe. Get yourself a new pipe boot... rip the old rubber gasket off the old boot... slip the new one over it, then cut your new shingles to fit around it. The boot flashing lays on top of the shingles, but about 5 or 6" up from the bottom of the boot flashing you start to lap them over the top, cutting around the shape of the hump.

If you happen to have a lead pipe boot that is folded over the top, like Joe said they are about $20.

You need to reduce the physical size to a width of 600 pixels and need to get the file size Under 10 Kb. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/li...rt-images.html

Thanks for the replys and until I get pictures up. Plan of action is going to be taking some shingles off to get the flashings put on correctly. So there's not having to worry about leaking
